The Right Location

The map tells the story.

The premier public year-round competition venues — the Arvada Aquatics Center (AAC) at 7904 Carr Dr in the far northwest suburbs and the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center (VMAC) at 5310 E. 136th Ave in Thornton in the far north suburbs — sit 38 to 42 miles north of Parker. The closer pins show El Pomar at DU and Carmody in Lakewood, but neither solves the problem: El Pomar restricts club practice access and Carmody has paused club rentals. The south metro has never had a competition home of its own

We have identified a nearly 18-acre site on Pine Drive in Parker as a potential home for the south metro's first competition pool. If made available for community use, this land contribution would dramatically reduce the total project cost — meaning every donor dollar goes toward building the pool, not acquiring land.

The Pine Drive site sits just off E-470, minutes from I-25 — the convergence of the south metro's two major highway corridors. Families from Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Centennial, and Aurora can reach it in under 30 minutes. This is the right location for a regional facility.

The Proposed Site

The vision for the Douglas County Aquatics Center is centered on accessibility and community integration. We have identified a proposed site in Parker that offers the ideal footprint for a world-class 50-meter competition pool, a separate diving well, and specialized warm-water therapy areas.

The site sits just 2.6 miles south of the E-470/Parker Road interchange — about a five-minute drive — putting it within easy reach of the region's major highway corridors. Athletes and families from across the south metro area, including Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Centennial, and Aurora, can access premier aquatic facilities in under 30 minutes, filling a critical gap in our local infrastructure.

You've seen the vision and the site. Here's how you can help make it real.
